Fall Learning week 1 - ten commandments/Cash birthday

Our first official week of "Fall Learning" we focused on

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

I truly felt directly inspired that we should establish these as our family rules from the beginning.

The kids and I built two tablets and Jade wrote the first five and Troy wrote the second five

They have been simplified to fit kids, but we have found so far that everything a child needs correcting on falls under one of the ten commandments. Number 6 "Don't hurt others", translated from "Thou Shalt Not Murder" is probably the most commonly discussed - that and "Obey your Mother" (Honor thy father and mother).

Our next-door neighbors are an amazing older couple who love our kids, so they spend some time learning over there and developing that relationship, too.

Lots of aerobic exercise on the trampoline - at least once a day.

Each kid gets to have "cooking class with Mommy" once a week, which lends to fabulous one-on-one opportunities.

Sometimes they want to "Play School" and actually set up desks and be told what to do...That usually doesn't last very long before they use their own intelligence and creativity to come up with projects individually suited to their own needs.

Troy is now adding four digits together in his head as fast as I can (Yes, his version of Monopoly uses four dice).

Cash is becoming an expert driver, thanks to this Jeep - no he doesn't drive it with Paul in there...yet.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to our big three-year old. He is such a stud! We love him so much!

We celebrated his birthday and our first "Field Trip Friday" of the season by purchasing a membership at the Treehouse Museum - yay!

We had a blast

I think it was a great investment.

There are tons of resources and activities that I think will add to our learning experience this year.

"That which is measured, improves" - and if it is immeasurable, just record it and it will improve.
So I record five things daily: The SCRIPTURE story we read, the WORK we did, the PLAY we did, what we READ, what we EAT for dinner, and how we SERVE.
